Ready for Impact

"Decent, but I think it needs some tightening."

submission: Ready for Impact

I'm not sure what you used to record this, but it sounds as if someone held up a USB microphone when you played - the quality isn't that great. As for the music itself, I like the unconventional riff the song is based on. At some points it sounds like the instrumentation gets a bit off for a beat or two, hence why I think it needs some tightening. Just keep at it. You definitely have potential! Great work.

Author's Response:

Thanks for your opinion. You're right we did kind of mess up a bit :p. Basically, this song was for our H.S.' : "Talent Show". So we rushed a little and we messed up a few times :p. As for the quality of our mic, blame our school lol. But believe me, at our school we sounded a little worse than this because the school wouldn't let us do a sound check. :p

"Sweet riff."

Reminiscent of some of the driving guitar riffs by Skid Row, I think if this was incorporated into a full song you'd definitely have something going for you. Nice job!

Awesome song.
Guitar is great. Drums are great. Lyrics are great. Just a good rockin' tune reminiscent of some 80s bands. 10/10.

Modern Fugue

"Just short of being amazing"

submission: Modern Fugue
date: June 1, 2006

I thought it was a very well written piece of music. I enjoyed listening to the beginning of the piece the most. There was a few parts during the middle that were a bit of a turn off; just a few note combinations that did not strike my fancy.

The one suggestion I have would be to add a little bit of reverb in the song. While it still sounds very good, I think it would be a little bit better with some echo in it.

All in all, great work. Though it is not perfect, I still gave it a 5 because it was quite good. I am going to go listen to all of your other stuff now.

:)

Author's Response:

Thank you. Reviews are very important to me, regardless of the opinion. Reviews like this, I love. There are indeed some very dissonant parts in the middle there, but those result mostly from overlapping the fugue subject, perhaps a bit too often.

I thought about reverb, but I decided that the intimacy of no reverb was better. I think that was a bad decision. A touch of reverb would lend some yumminess, yes.

I try to do my best. Perfection is always just a little bit farther.

Thank you for your favorable vote. You might be disappointed in my other stuff, though. This is a departure for me, but I think it's the new direction I'm taking.

Fun With Fireworks

"Good riffs"

submission: Fun With Fireworks
date: January 15, 2006

A bass line and drums would make this really good. The riffs are really diverse and keep the song from getting stale. Try using Fruity Loops or something for a synthesized drum track. It sounds pretty good. Keep it up!

Author's Response:

Might look into that.I recently got Sony ACID Pro 5.0 and Sound Forge 8 so one more program couldn't hurt...

But there's one little problem.Hehe...funny story.I can't remember how I played this XD

Feel The Adrenaline

"I love the tune"

date: September 4, 2005

Reminds me of playing the original Prince of Persia for some reason. Then you got the heavy parts which are the hardcore battles. The switches from clean to distortion were cool. Me likes. The ending with the crazy guitar fills and stuff was great. Good dissonance and all. Excellent work.

Author's Response:

wow, praise from Ceasar himself!i never played Prince of Persia so i dont know how it reminds you of it...i worked really hard on this for days.im sure you know it can be kinda confusing playing multiple guitar parts and then putting them together.to sum it up there are 5 guitars:1-acoustic 2-acoustic-simulated with slight distortion 3-clean 4-distorted and the last one 5-fuzz-boxed/chorus

wait until u hear my next thing...makes good use of alotta effects i have!

Come To Me/Wait For Me

"Me likes a lot"

date: August 12, 2005

I like the two track types you have mixed with each other. Your solo is real cool too. You should make a song like this and add some lyrics. Great job!

Author's Response:

Well since they are 2 different songs I was planning on eventually doining lyrics for them and makeing them a Part 1 and Part 2 type of thing from 2 different points of view.Like Come To Me would have an agressive sound to the lyrics and Wait For Me would have like a depressed sounding feel to it...I'll do all this one day. Thanks for the review.

Die For You

"Pretty good, but needs more"

submission: Die For You
date: August 10, 2005

Two things would really help this:
1. A bassline (or one that could be heard better if you have one)
2. Reverb on the vocals

The singing isn't bad, but the reverb would make it sound MUCH better and blend it with the music. The tune is catchy, it just needs a little more effect. Nice work! 4/5

Author's Response:

Thanks for the feedback, i'm gonna try the reverb on the vocals from now on. Keep on rockin in the free world.

"Really good song!"

submission: Meanjob

It reminded my of Blues Travellers or something. The vocals were good and I liked the riffs played by all the instruments. Definitely deserves the score it has. Great job! Can't wait until you get some more stuff!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much. As for the score, seems that time to time some guys just come in and vote 0 on almost all the songs! If it weren't for your reviews... Thank you guys;)
